I have a router and have a problem
To split the Internet signal bought at GENERACJA.pl network you need a router. Router separates the provider's network (Internet - WAN) from the internal network created with the use of router in the clients home.
Due to increasing number of routers installed on the client's side the problems with this device increase as well. Due to the fact, that the device is the client's property and managed by the client, our network does not take on the repairs and problem solving connected with routers.
Below we present the list of most popular problems reported to our Client Service Office.
1. Problem: From time to time the Internet signal fades. On the computer (Windows XP) there appears a message "Network cable not connected" or "Limited or no connectivity".
Solution: The router probably freezes. If switching off and switching on helps, this means that the router has problems with functioning. We recommend installing the most recent software (firmware) from the equipment manufacturer's website. If the problem doesn't disappear, please check the router power supply, because a lot of problems with freezing router are caused by improper power supply (zero bolt lacking or zero bolt not connected, bad power supply, unstable power supply).
2. Problem: WAN light (or Internet) on the router blinks and I don't use the Internet.
3. Problem: The Internet runs slowly via router, but without the router it is good.
Solution: Most probably the router radio link is not secured and some neighbour connected to your line. Such situation causes that someone uses the Internet at your expense. The service may work more slowly than it was stated in the contract. We recommend securing the router and whole wireless network. Please, remember also that the router does not split the line evenly.
4. Problem: I connected another computer to the router and the Internet doesn't work. The first computer works.
Solution 1: Router does not work as a router but as a switch/bridge type device. Wrong configuration of the device is responsible for it.
Solution 2: The Internet wasn't plugged into the WAN or Internet port but to the LAN port, what is a wrong configuration. The cable should be plugged into the port marked on the router as WAN or Internet.
5. Problem: It is impossible to plug in the router to the network by WAN/Internet port because the socket is to small for the Internet cable plug.
Solution: Most probably the router is for the xDSL line (phone) and not for Ethernet (local network). The router connected by LAN port will not work properly. The problem can be solved only by changing the router.
