Domain registration and usage

Who registers the domains?
Domain registration in Poland is done by Research and Academic Computer Network (NASK).

How can I register a domain?
To register a domain it is necessary to properly send electronic Application available through our website, or also through the NASK website www.dns.pl. After sending the electronic Application you have to print it out, sign with distinct signatures of persons authorized to submitting will statements on the applicant's behalf, and affix a company seal (the seal is not required from an individual). The written Application must be sent within 7 days from the date of sending its electronic version, at the fax number: (+48 22) 523 13 01.

How to fill in the application?
The application available at the address www.dns.pl should be filled in accordance with the description of its particular fields, entering the required data. In case of detection of absence of data or error the system will display appropriate messages about them. On every step of filling in the Application, before its final confirmation for sending its electronic version, you can correct so far entered data. After confirming for sending the electronic Application version, it is necessary to print it out. It is recommended to save the application on the local computer drive.

The syntax of registered domains
The domain name can only consist of letters of Latin alphabet, digits and '-' sign (minus). The '-' sign cannot appear at the beginning or end of the name. The name of each level of the domain can contain up to 63 characters all together.

Should I write the domain name with small or capital letters?
From the point of view of servicing the domain names the letters size is not distinguished.

What kinds of domains can we register?
NASK administers the country domain .pl and a number of second level domains - (functional e.g. .com.pl; .biz.pl; .net.pl; .org.pl; etc. and regional e.g. .waw.pl; .bydgoszcz.pl; etc.). Full specification of domains administered by NASK is available at the address www.dns.pl (funkcjonalne, regionalne). The subscriber submits with the Registration application the statement on the right to the domain name. In the domain .pl will not be registered the names of towns being the seats of communes, poviats and provinces. Appropriate regulations in this sphere contains the Government Order of 21st December 1999, Dz.U. no. 110/99 item 1267.

Domain registration time
NASK takes on the obligation of registering the domain name within to 5 business days from the date of receiving by NASK the written version of Application, if it is correct.

Do I have to write WWW before the domain name, are the WWW names registered?
Definitely no. WWW is the name reserved for the service registered in the Internet network.

Check out if the chosen domain already exist
You can use the browser on the NASK website, available at the address www.dns.pl. If the domain name already exists the information about DNS servers to which the delegation of the domain name refers will be displayed.
